What I'm Up To

Today and for the next 3 days I am doing Therapeutic Crisis Intervention. This is all for my intern site. Today we learned how to get out of situations where a client is grabbing your arm (with 1 arm or 2), pulling your hair, biting you, or putting in a choke hold. We also learned how to do a standing hold of an escalated client. A lot of it were things that are learned in self-defense. Nothing wrong with learning that!

The purpose of TCI is to provide a crisis prevention and intervention model for residential child care facilities which will assist an organization in:
Preventing crises from occurring
De-escalating potential crises
Effectively managing acute crisis phases
Reducing potential and actual injury to children and staff
Learning constructive ways to handle stressful situations
Developing a learning circle within the organization

Are you trying to put your mom at ease or what? I suggest you tell us (and her) all the book things you are doing also so that she sees what a well-rounded program you are taking.
