Let's Eat!

Happy Thanksgiving!
I bet all of you have better things going on today that to check my blog, but just in case. =)
I am super excited about today! I will be picking Kristin up from the airport in about 2 hours!!!!!!! I haven't seen her since July and it's been way too long. We have our annual shopping excursion tomorrow that has been a tradition for longer than I can remember.
This is also the first Thanksgiving that I am in control of! (Don't tell my therapist how excited I am about this!) Ed is making all of the food and knowing him, it will be amazing. Our friends Wendy and Betsy will also be joining us. Don't worry, there will be plenty of pictures.
Hopfully I will stay awake for all of this. I was so excited that I woke up around 5:30 this morning. All of you should know that that is NOT like me!

not to worry

nothing to worry about with the last post. it was supposed to be funny. a friend of mine here was saying something and ended up saying that. we thought it was hilarious because it's so irrational. plus, it sounds pretty funny out of context. nothing bad people.

Pumpkin Time!

Here is the pumpkin carving that Ed and I did for Halloween. It turned out pretty good.

Halloween didn't turn out like I had planned. I told
everyone that I was dressing up like a cat and going trick or treating with kids at my internship. Unfortunately, we had a some problems with a child and the trick or treating (and cat costume) never happened. Maybe next year!

What Is She Doing?!?!

For those of you who still aren't completely sure what music therapy is I am giving you a great definition. This is taken from the American Music Therapy Association's web site. Check them out at www.musictherapy.org

Music Therapy is the clinical and evidence-based use of music interventions to accomplish individualized goals within a therapeutic relationship by a credentialed professional who has completed an approved music therapy program.

Music Therapy is an established health profession in which music is used within a therapeutic relationship to address physical, emotional, cognitive, and social needs of individuals. After assessing the strengths and needs of each client, the qualified music therapist provides the indicated treatment including creating, singing, moving to, and/or listening to music. Through musical involvement in the therapeutic context, clients' abilities are strengthened and transferred to other areas of their lives. Music therapy also provides avenues for communication that can be helpful to those who find it difficult to express themselves in words. Research in music therapy supports its effectiveness in many areas such as: overall physical rehabilitation and facilitating movement, increasing people's motivation to become engaged in their treatment, providing emotional support for clients and their families, and providing an outlet for expression of feelings.
