Moving Time

Friday I turn over a heap of money and get the keys to my NEW apartment! Yay! I have awhile before I have to be out of my old one, so I can slowly start transfering stuff. I am excited to get everything set up and throw a party!

Weekend Update

Ed and I spent this weekend in NJ. His mother recently had open heart surgery so we went for a visit. Sunday was the best part because I went onto NYC for the whole day! A bus took me from the end of Ed's parents' street right into Times Square. It was so wonderful to be there! I walked all day long. All the way down to the Strand bookstore-my favorite-to find they were having a huge book clearance with most books under $2. I stocked up for summer.

The Job Front

I met today with the mom that I am going to be working for part-time. She has the CUTEST 7 mo. old little girl. She, the mom, works from home so I will be there a few hours a couple of days per week to basically occupy the baby. They live right in Porter Sq. and a few blocks from a really nice park. I am excited to start and have at least some money coming in! I also have some other possibilities to add to this.

BIG NEWS!

There are very few people that know this, but I have finally decided to move-as of an hour ago. Many things played into it. I like where I am, but the parking is really stressful (as is moving my car every two hours), the already high rent is going up, and I owuld love more space. I went to look at a place today and knew when I walked in the door. It is AWESOME! There is plenty of parking, MUCH more space, $100 less/month in rent, etc. There are TWO closets! One of them is so big that I could throw a part in there! I am attaching pics. Tomorrow morning I will go sign the papers. YAY! I am really excited and already planning a house warming bash!

Pictures:
#1 a SEPARATE kitchen with a full size refrigerator with ceiling fan!
#2 living space with HUGE closet!!!!!!!! a picture wouldn't have done it justice and another ceiling fan
#3 the foyer with a big closet, NICE bathroom, and a high window that brings in light from the hallway sky light. Non opening, non looking in height
#4 living space with a door that opens to the roof-emergency exit only-but it has a screen door that can be locked to let in more air.
#5 the lobby staircase that leads up to my floor.

Sittin' here in limbo....as Jerry Garcia would say

These are pictures that I took today sitting on Storrow Dr. trying to get home. There was some traffic, but a perfect photo op. They were taken out my car window.

The first is looking at the Charles River from the Boston side. The round topped building is MIT.

New Shoes!

Living in the city can mean lots of walking. I have finally realized that I am beyond the point of nothing but flip flops during those summer months. Yes, I am that old. Today my goal was to find a good summer sandal that is cute and good for my feet-oh, and comfortable. I finally found just that. They are Born's and are pretty darn comfortable. Even better? The worker girl and I started talking and her sister is a music therapist! THAT NEVER HAPPENS! I didn't have to go into my explination about what I do! She went on and on about how amazing of a career her sister is having and how much she respects what we do. YAY!
I am going to try to get out and take pictures this week. Tomorrow will be the first day in a week that it isn't supposed to rain. Boston is looking beautiful already!

Gigs

So tonight is my first babysitting gig here in Massachusetts. I am pretty excited! I also have a part time nanny gig lined up for the summer. It is only about 10-12 hours/week with a weekend night every once in awhile when I am available. It is for one 7 mo. old girl in Cambridge. It will be nice ot have money coming in. There is also another family interested in me for part time work. They have 18 mo. old twins and live right outside of Boston. I am meeting the first family sometime this coming week.
My internship is AMAZING and I love the kids and staff that I work with. It came at just the right time and I am learning so much! I wish I had more time there.

Yummy!

Todd English!

Wendy and I met for dinner in Beacon Hill last night. We ate at Todd English's restaurant Figs. It was delicious! If you click on restaurants at the top it will take you to all of his restaurants. I highly recomend going to any of them that are in your area! Below is what I ate, and then finished for lunch today. Super yummy!
Figs won the "Hot Concept" award from
Nation’s Restaurant News magazine.

Go Music Therapy!!!!!

Last evening on the local Fox tv channel there was a story on music therapy! And yes, it was a great one! I have yet to figure out how to put the video on the blog, but you can see it by clicking the following link.

www.myfoxboston.com

in the search box type "medicinal music"

This should lead you to the video of the segment. Enjoy and share it with everyone you know!
