One Good Thing...

So this week for me has really sucked. However, this post is not about that. This post is about the few minutes today that were totally awesome.
Before a meeting, my boss pulled me into her office. I warned her that if she had anything bad to tell me that she should wait for another time. She assured me that she had something good to tell me. It seems that a parent of a child in our early intervention wasn't pleased with the worker that had been assigned to them. They called to complain and mentioned that they wanted me. Yes, they used my name. It seems that another parent in our program had told them all about me and how much they love me. So, it seems that I am now being requested.
There are many days that I feel great about what I do and others that I feel clueless. I guess I'm either doing a decent job or pretending really well! My boss was shocked and had never heard of anyone "making requests" for a certain worker.

Congratulations to Tracy and Johnny on the birth of their twin boys, Jacob and Carter. The boys were born July 18th. Jacob is doing very well and Carter is in great hands in the NICU getting some extra attention. Their blog is under my links on the side of the page (sturgis twins' blog).

cooking

Tonight I went to the farmers' market. There are so many here that there is at least one every day of the week.
Pictures:
1. My bounty
2. Semi hollowed out portabello cap with diced onions and tomatoes
3. The awesome goat cheese that went on top of #2
4. The finished product

The last 2 pictures were a little expiriment from tonight. I put some olive oil on the mushroom cap and covered it with onions, tomatoes, and goat cheese. It spent about 15 mins. in a 375 degree oven and it was awesome. Ideally, I would have left it in a little longer. The onions were still crunchy. I probably should have sauteed them first. Seemed like too much effort in the hot weather. Also, a nice glass of chilled white wine made it even better!

this year included roasting marshmellows at the dinner table, the usual group artwork, a trip to get lobsters (like always), and seeing all the hardworking people that bring in those lobsters. As a vegetarian, I pass on those poor little lobsters.

Maine 2009

Every year I get to spend some time up in an amazing old farmhouse in Maine. It's right on the ocean and there's always lots of friends and lots of fun. Here are some pictures from this year.
