what a find!
Yesterday I went out to run some errands. On the way out I noticed a garage sale across the street. When I came back I found that they had abandoned the sale and left the things that didn't sell for free!
Here are some of the treasures that I brough home:
-a big stack of books in great condition
-these crazy carved wooden things (i think that i'm going to make a wall art out of them for my kitchen)
-a super old copy of the velvateen rabitt
-an awesome tote
not pictured:
-an amazing multiple taper candle holder that after a coat of black paint looks amazing!
-big plastic storage boxes for work
-2 baby sleepers for work
-a huge collection of cook books, many that are fromt he 50's

Welcome back SOWA Sunday! I have missed you dearly! For those of you out-of-towners, SOWA Sundays are Boston's open air markets. This was the first weekend and they will go through October. It's the perfect place to find amazing stuff from local artists, bakeries, farmers, etc. Shanna and I went today and then ended with brunch at Rocca. This is what I had: griddle cakes with ricotta, blueberries, and lemon syrup. So yummy!

This is a building that I just love. It's not in use anymore, obviously. I'm sure eventually they will tear it down. There's something great about the different textures and "falling apartness." It's on a shortcut that I take a lot for work. I finally was able to get over there and not be racing off to see a client.

beets!
Tonight I tried a new recipe. I love beets and this month in Vegetarian Times, there were multiple recipes that included them! It is a variation on cole slaw. It uses beets (I chose golden), green onions, green apple, and a homemade dressing. It's yummy! This is a picture of it after being loaded into containers for the week. Let me know if you want the recipe. =)
no more stains...
This is the GREATEST stain remover AND it's all natural! No need for chemicals, this stuff does the job. I just did some laundry Friday night and found things in the bottom of the laundry basket with some yucky stains. They had been in there for well over a week and I thought that they didn't stand a chance. I put some of this stuff on it and crossed my fingers. It came out good as new!
I bet you're thinking that it must be expensive. All natural, works super well... but it's less than $4! Go ahead and give it a shot!

1. Sunday night prep for the week. I've been making it a point to eat a fruit salad once a day. In addition to my morning apple. Yep, I'm a little OCD but it helps to have it all ready to go in the containers.
2. Let the veggie growing begin!!!!!!!! They finally made it into pots this morning. Kale and green beans. They are out on my roof and I hope that they will make it. I built, yes by myself!, the chicken wire cage. There are some creepy beasts that hang out there at night (I hear them fighting late at night!) and I am not willing to share! Keep checking back for their progress!
