cooking

Tonight I went to the farmers' market. There are so many here that there is at least one every day of the week.
Pictures:
1. My bounty
2. Semi hollowed out portabello cap with diced onions and tomatoes
3. The awesome goat cheese that went on top of #2
4. The finished product

The last 2 pictures were a little expiriment from tonight. I put some olive oil on the mushroom cap and covered it with onions, tomatoes, and goat cheese. It spent about 15 mins. in a 375 degree oven and it was awesome. Ideally, I would have left it in a little longer. The onions were still crunchy. I probably should have sauteed them first. Seemed like too much effort in the hot weather. Also, a nice glass of chilled white wine made it even better!

Yum! We like our portobello's on the grill. There is no such thing as a bad portobello! Envious of your farmer's markets! We onlyhave one and it is only on Saturday.

Weird coincidence. Matt totally bought a pack of portobello mushrooms and we grilled them with olive oil and oregano and garlic and onion and parmesan and provolone and tomatoes! They were amazing and the kids totally liked them too!
